An Update: Virgin Mobile No Contract IPhone 5 was the winner!

I had a post a week or so ago about shopping for cell phone plans.  We looked at all of the major carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, TMobile, AT&T, but ultimately decided to stick with the company we have been with:  Virgin Mobile.  We previously had a pay as you go plan, but my husband was needing a phone with texting and internet and we decided to try out the Virgin Mobile IPhone 5.  I did some research online and the phone on the Virgin Mobile web site was $549.99, but you could do a payment plan of Bill Me Later and pay the phone off in 6 months.  I did find that Radio Shack has a deal good through July 27th where you can trade in any working phone and receive a $50 credit towards the Virgin Mobile IPhone 5 making the phone $499.99.

He opted for the cheapest plan which is $35/month and includes 300 talk minutes, but unlimited data.  When you choose to Auto Pay for your plan, Virgin Mobile gives you a $5 discount so it is only $30/month for the plan with the IPhone 5.  Virgin Mobile operates on the Sprint Towers.   So far he is happy with it.  While looking around at the store, many of the no contract phones had plans which were $50/month.  Most plans were at least $80-$100/month.
