I know this time of year people often want to give back to their communities and the places in which they live and those who are less fortunate than they are. I wanted to highlight a couple of organizations giving back this time of year. I do apologize that this post was not made sooner since the deadline for Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes is this week.
This week many churches are collecting shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse is in charge of collecting shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. May children around the world do not have basic toiletries and school supplies. Information on what to pack inside a shoebox can be found here: Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box. Shoe box drop-off locations can be found here: Drop off locations. Drop-offs are taking place from today until November 21st at local area churches. Some of these children who are recipients have never received a gift in their lives. Some of the stories from first time recipients are here: The First Gift.
Another local non-profit organization is called Foster Fairies. This was started by a woman named Aleksandra Pesalj. She volunteers for an organization called Child Advocates, Inc., and she started the popular Holiday Drive from what she saw that there was a need in Marion County. More information about Child Advocates and what they do can do be found here: Child Advocates What We Do. If you would like to sponsor a child this holiday season, you can sign-up here: Sign up to sponsor a child. You can also sign-up by posting on the Foster Fairies FB page: Foster Fairies FB page. I know that they are a little behind in getting the lists for the kids this year, but each person should be contacted very soon. Even if you are not in the Indianapolis area, you can definitely take advantage of Amazon Prime free shipping if you have Prime or by making monetary donations or gift card donations. I’d be happy to help put you in touch with Aleksandra if anyone would like to sponsor a child this holiday season.
